Sometimes we think a problem is so big that we cannot solve it. I disagree with that because there is always a choice. There is something we can do, no matter how little it is, that could make a difference. So do your part because I have done mine. Ponder this.

A few years ago l watched a TV show on BBC about how most children’s books out there have only white characters in them.

Traditional Publishers wouldn’t even publish books with BAME characters on the cover. 

As an author, l decided l had to do something about it. 

So l wrote my first children’s book and put two black kids on the cover as well as a Chinese, a white and a mixed race child. It is The ZEANN Gang, Bully busters, a fiction novel for children.

I wanted to promote diversity and that kids can collaborate and have true , friendship no matter their ethnicity. The book is also about anti-bullying. Kids loved the book so l wrote a sequel.

A friend told me yesterday how happy her 11 year old daughter likes reading about the Nigerian kids and their family in my book. This is why l am sharing it here.

If you have Kids or relatives age 8+ you can show them that these are books with black children on the cover.
